I have a few beliefs that may seem old-fashioned, but I live my life by them every day.
My word is still my bond, a handshake matters, and a promise is a promise.
I don't make promises I can't keep. I don't believe, whether it be self-interest or corporate interest, that they should ever trump the public's best interest.
I believe in real living wages, equal pay, public health care and public education.
I believe Ontarians should retire with dignity and I support real environmental protections.
These are the things I will fight for every day as your MPP.
"Our seniors need and deserve better from their provincial government. With the cost of living skyrocketing, seniors in our local communities need to know they have a government with a clear vision to be there for them when they need it most. From access to doctors, wait times, more Long Term Care (LTC) and home care options...seniors are not asking their provincial government for more than they deserve...it is what they are owed. Seniors should be able to count on retiring with dignity."
"Doug Ford has forgotten a fundamental principle about Ontario's publicly funded health care system...and that is, it is a right we all hold as sacred, not a privately funded privilege for the wealthy few."
"Every day, it seems it gets harder and harder to make ends meet. Families are having tougher times across Northumberland-Peterborough South and across Ontario, for that matter, with inflation, stagnating wages and higher and higher costs for basic essentials. Burying our head in the sand, like we have seen from the Doug Ford government in their inaction, is no way to combat these critical issues. As a government, it is essential that we not only recognize these challenges but that we take decisive action to face them head on."
"There is simply no issue more pressing in Ontario...in Canada...in the world, than that of the environment. The decisions we take today are the ones that will have the greatest impact on our children and grandchildren and so on. For the last 4 years, we have seen Doug Ford's absolute disregard for the greatest threat we have ever faced."
"We need a real plan for affordable housing, not lip service. We need a plan that increases the actual stock and availability of homes that are actually not only affordable...but attainable."
"I have spent my entire career, over 35 years, as an educator. I know first hand and up close what it means to have a robust publicly funded education system. For me, it is simply heartbreaking to witness what Doug Ford and his government take a sledgehammer to; years and years of important educational advances, exceptional public policy, and the very fabric of our public school system. That ends June 2nd."
